Maxine Mckew Poem by Francis Duggan

Maxine Mckew

Australian Labor Party supporters singing her praises loud
The beautiful Maxine has done herself proud
The Prime Minister John Howard to her has lost his seat
One can say for her a remarkable feat.

Kevin Rudd and Julia Gillard and the Labor Party in song
And Maxine McKew the pride of Bennelong
With the Liberals and Nationals on the retreat
Has shattered John Howard in a humbling defeat.

Remember the woman remember her name
Due to her Bennelong will never more be the same
She gave to Johnny Howard what was only his due
She had a great dream and her dream did come true.

In Bennelong on her dame fortune did smile
The beautiful woman untainted by guile
By unseating John Howard she proved the pundits wrong
To the Davids of history she now does belong.

A beautiful person with a winning way
She added to the woe of Howard's worst ever day
A twenty first century heroine her equals are few
Remember her name she is Maxine McKew.
