It's very important to remember those less
Fortunate than us when we are making merry.
In terms of wealth and happiness, not all are blessed.
Tucking into turkey and imbibing sherry
Is very nice. Yet others pay a heavy price.
In poverty's cruel grip, some are pleading for rice.
While others freeze in dank, dirty prisons.
May every heart know of societal reasons
For ignorance, disease and want. May every heart
Know of Love's light and compassion's transforming art.

Dominic many thanks for writing and sharing your poem that deservedly hits home. And hits home so very hard and rightfully so. Once a housing bigwig stayed out just ONE night in the summer to make himself look good and to use the homeless as an excuse to feather his moral and companies nest. Now try it in the cold bleak winter and for the rest of his hungry, impoverished life. Thanks for the co dedication with the great man. AFS and take care good sir
Thanks Shaun..much appreciated! I was inspired by your poem ' A Constant Hunger' and by the ideas, about social injustice, expressed in Dickens ' 'A Christmas Carol'.
