Maybe You And I Are Just A Wish Poem by Aanuoluwa Adebanjo

Maybe You And I Are Just A Wish

Rating: 5.0

There's no denying the fact
That you swept me off my feet
And taking me to places where nobody else has
It wasn't really about your looks
And it wasn't about your words
Even though it used to be part
Until i discovered some little bit of lies
Which has always brought about an aorta of doubt
Even up till now
Because i always end up discovering the truth
And finding things out myself
But it was your realness and originality
That drew me closer until i couldn't take a step backwards
I was lost, i really was
As my thoughts were no longer mine
And my feelings couldn't listen to my head
But rather chose to dance to the rythmes of my heart
I really would have fallen
But for the little gift that i am endowed with, 'self control'
Which made me realise that
It's not always about my feelings but how it would make others feel
It's not just about this moment
It's about the moments to come
It's not about how long we've been
But how long we want to be
It's not about the times we share together now
But the memories we want to have and keep about each other
And sometimes it's not about 'you and I'
It's about the world around us
Sometimes it's not about the mistakes we've made in the past
But how often they come back to haunt our present
This made me look deeper
And think wider
And brought me to a conclusion
Just one conclusion and that is,
Maybe you and I are just a wish

Wow! What an amazing poem! This one is absolutely brilliant how you analyzed your feelings and thoughts and came to a realistic conclusion. So profound and utterly mature thought process, has been used fundamentally to make a wise decision concerning a future in life. Totally love this poem, adding it to me favorites, I give you 100 - 10's if possible. Thank you for a very illuminating and philosophical approach to having or not having a relationship. RoseAnn
