Mazie Meurt Toute Seule Dans L'hopital De La Cite.(Translation) . Poem by Michael Walker

Mazie Meurt Toute Seule Dans L'hopital De La Cite.(Translation) .

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
The short dramatic monologue is spoken by Mazie, who is dying alone in the silence of the city hospital, which she does not like. She would prefer to die where a band is playing loud and people are happy and slightly drunk-having a good time.
The poem shows a different attitude to death, from what most people imagine, in the quiet of a hospital, or at home. Mazie is different: as a young, terminally ill man said to a support group, 'I intend to go out in style! '
