Mediterranean Meditations-36 Poem by Gunturk Ustun

Mediterranean Meditations-36

1

I keep my eyes
And my mind open
On the maritime routes

2

The Mediterranean has finally
Managed to conquer its demons
And abandoned its habit of despair

3

The twinkling of stars
The carnival of waves
The perseverance of port cranes

4

Miles of sea-time ago
I learned from the Mediterranean
That brainstorming is harmless

5

Strangely, not a single boat
On the wide sea this sunset
Is there something wrong?

6

Moonlight obscured by thick clouds
The last commuter ferry of the day leaving
I can serenly return to my deep sleep

7

I meditate regularly on the Mediterranean
But the Mediterranean doesn't need to meditate on me
After all, who am I in the sharp, salty eyes of the Mediterranean?
