Hallways darkened!
Walking quickly
Toward the room
Pen light in hand
Slowly entering
Mother's room
Not too far
'Motion Alarm'
Shining a light
On mom from afar,
Gentle breathing
I observe
Backing out slowly
Not to disturb
Another dawn
She will observe
An older, but timeless poem. Approaching death of a mother is hard to take. To wake up to another dawn is some consolation.
i imagine motion alarm was to alert 'keepers' when/if Mom started to wander. i had a cousin who moved back to her hometown to live in an apartment when her parents were still in there house but both elderly and my aunt was senile. alarm(s) was/were put on exterior house door(s) to sound if aunt opened it/them. she had wandered away from home at least once. i found this as i was returning to 'Melrose Morning' to get it for May showcase just now. bri ;)
I relate to this poem about the last days of your mother. R.I.P.
Hi-Just wanted to say how much that I like your written words... It was easy for me to relate to the meaning (and thoughts) within them...45

You capture the moment so very well. She will observe another dawn, but it is still a sorrowful situation
