Memories Of A Love That Never Was Poem by Luvo Mjayezi

Memories Of A Love That Never Was

At first I thought it was me, but it wasn't. I thought it must have been fate, but it wasn't.
I thought the heavens were smiling at me and dropping blessings of rain onto my shoulders, only to find out it was false hope.
Storms came and i thought you would be my shelter, but i got drenched with rain and caught a cold.
I stumbled and fell, reached out my hand and watched you walk away.
You never looked back. I saw you the next day and you welcomed me with open arms but your heart was cold.
You smiled on the outside, but had no happiness inside.
I woke up one day and you won't there, all that was left were memories of what might have happened but could never be.
