Mental Manipulation Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Mental Manipulation

Mental manipulation.
Is no longer fiction but fact.
Artificial stimulation,
Subliminally introduced to seduce.
Effectively has proven that.
Whether done to 'tweet' or 'twitter'.
Using cellphones to do,
Alone in a room.
Although with others to 'chat'.
Getting a response,
Within seconds right back.
Easy these days it is to be deceived.
And made to believe,
An act or event to have occurred.
Yet in 'reality' not to happen.
But attention to give it,
Gets more time than it deserves.
Disturbing emotions.
And leaving feelings hurt.
Without a word exchanged spoken.
Or claim to hear it heard.
Leaving many upset and offended.
By what was 'assumed' to demean.

"Why the attitude? "

-I was in a 'chatroom'.
And somebody said I did something,
I didn't do at all.-

"And...
Who was it? "

-'Down With Love'.-

"Who? "

-'Down With Love'.
'Down With Love' told 'Muffin Snatch',
Something I said.
When my 'cell' was off and charging.-

"Who are these people?
How do you know them? "

-I don't know them.
I mean...
We've never met face to face.
But 'Muffin Snatch' should know me,
Better than that.
People lie in 'chatrooms'.-

"No!
You're kidding.
Well...
That's a relief.
I thought liars were everywhere."
