Mentoring Cohorts (My Rebuttal) Poem by Deluke Muwanigwa

Mentoring Cohorts (My Rebuttal)

Mentoring Poets (Robert Murray Smith)

No poet can mentor another
Leave that to your mother
To put you to bed and kiss your head
'Goodnight my sweet son, dream but don't be misled
There, you will have much imagination
but, when you wake there will be stagnation
Albeit, whilst you sleep like Bo-Peep
The world will move on and you still can't compose like Rob Keats
Awaken refreshed for further kisses
And heed, this here, my thesis'

Mentoring cohorts (my rebuttal)

Robert Murray Smith has been a friend
We been joking here on PH as a trend
So i know he won't get upset
If i disagree with his poetic set
After all he has called me names
And i have smiled all the same

All the poets on PH are my mentors
Yes, sometimes my tormentors
But that's how i learn to write
And avoid poems trite
I learn from the legends
I learn from the ladies
The gents
The gentiles
The newbies being fresh
Even teach me French
Mentoring poets
Is mentoring cohorts.
