Swimming deep in the vast ocean
A mesmerizing and magical mermaid
Searches for lost sailors to rescue
And warm her cold heart caused by years in the ocean
Swimming with the endless blue waves of emotion.
Breathing underwater and sleeping with the fish
With the delving dolphins and shocking sharks
Her immortal destiny appearing stark
But one day in the ocean she would meet her dreamlover
Travelling along the sea waves of consciousness.
A sailor appeared to be drowning beneath the waves
The mermaid putting her mouth to his
And bringing him back to mortal life
His shipmates later wondering how he survived
But very glad their shipmate found and alive.
And the mermaid searches the ocean for him
Her cold heart in love and yearning to be warm
Even when there is a violent storm
Her weary tail wishing to walk on the solid land
Her desire to be able to walk, talk and stand.
She meets a sea urchin who promises freedom
If she seduces the sailor that taught her love
And she hopes that she'll survive up above
The land tempting with its lavish human freedoms
Her multicoloured fish tail having enough of swimming.
She briefly given the gift of working human legs
Free to walk and talk and find true love
But if ocean water splashes her treasured legs
She will become a mermaid once again instead
And will have to plead to the sea urchin and beg.
She searches the land for her sailor:
Her only true love: and bravely succeeds
Finding happiness up above
And he warms her heart that was once cold
And now has a bride with an amazing tale to be told.
Recognizing his mermaid from the ocean
The sailor realizes she saved his life
The sailor knows it came out of true love
And knows above all else she is the one
Her mermaid tail no longer swimming without emotion.
For her beauty has given her beautiful human legs
She not telling of the curse where she did beg
To stay human and not become a mermaid again
Her sins leading her cursed to have a tail
Her duty to protect the crew on ships that do sail.
Now a mortal, she does live to old age
Her sailor connected to her without fully knowing why
And as the years pass she does try and try
And love her special sailor in spite of how and why:
Her immortal breath bringing a sailor back to life.
Listening night and day to the magical ocean
She remembering selflessly saving drowning sailors
And how they did worship her legendary devotion
The mesmerizing mermaid having long golden hair
And a rainbow of fish colours that create art to which stare.
