Milkshakes Poem by Kenji McCollum

Milkshakes

It finally happened,
the exact date ive been wanting to go on for years,
before I even knew who he was,
I wanted to travel around downtown Milwaukee,
Go to things of another world, chocolatier, the library and the antique mall,
It was always a dream of mine,
To go walk around be romantic,
Look at all of the shops,
And specifically get milkshakes at the bar inside of the antique mall,
There where so many specifics added to that date,
that i could have never even wished for,
He made the date amazing,
He made it magical and fun,
a ring,
this gorgeous ring,
it is beautiful,
sadly didn't fit,
Irony huh?
First one didn't either,
the milkshakes where so amazing,
we both just talked so much,
and kissed so much,
I loved how he would look at me,
like i was some god walking in on earth,
we walked around so much,
just listening to music and talking about random things
I loved the library,
I read as he cuddled on me,
in this little section closed off,
he bought me peanuts and soda,
he is so amazing i adore him.
