Mind As You Like It Poem by gershon hepner

Mind As You Like It

Some study words, some study lines
while others study pages
to find the lodes within the mines
of poets. There are stages,
says Jacques, in the life of man,
but you will also find
such stages that the reader can
discover in the mind
of poets. First comes word and next
the line and then the page,
and then, completed, comes a text,
matured by middle age,
but after that revision comes,
as words expressing thought
are mined as pearls or else, as crumbs,
disintegrate to naught.
