Mindlessly Living Poem by Ima Ryma

Mindlessly Living

I need more pills to pop as I
Get golder in my golden years.
All alone, I do really try
To be careful, but I have fears
That my forgetfulness will be
The excuse for the age police
To get a court to commit me
To a place where there's no release.
For who knows how long until death
Mercifully takes me away
From just being breath after breath,
A joyless state, day after day.

More pills give my body more time.
No pill for hope to let life rhyme.
