Miracle Of Compassion Poem by RoseAnn V. Shawiak

Miracle Of Compassion

A wonderful musical for the Christmas season being performed
by young children at Heritage Elementary School.

A cute young man smiling, stylin' and profiling, just before
everyone begins singing about a Christmas Shoe Tree.

Being a wonderful tale of decorating a tree with many shoes
that are to be given away on Christmas Day to those children
who haven't any to wear.

Such a beautiful thought, full of love and caring, followed
by action to help those unfortunates struck by poverty.

Voices singing proudly of this fascinating little miracle
of childhood compassion and giving.

This is the miracle we can ALL believe in - when we realize children are leading the way for us to show generosity and help those in need. Christmas is a holiday which is uniquely filled with promises - the very birth of Jesus, the future Redeemer, is the biggest of these promises. But your poem presents a smaller scale promise that is still expressive of the holiday - The children have learned the lesson of generosity and they won't unlearn it! THAT CUTE YOUNG MAN is a better symbol of Christmas than all the Santa Clauses in all the shopping malls!
