Missing Dutiful Eye Contact Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Missing Dutiful Eye Contact

Incredible as it may seem.
Yet believable to witness.

There have been those,
Given every opportunity possible.
To hit home runs.
Each time they appear,
At the plate awaiting...
For those opportunities,
To them be pitched.
And...
With limited obstacles,
In the field to prevent this done.

However...
One heard to exclaim,
They are prepared for the task.
Is discovered each time,
Focusing on who sits in the stadium.
To pay more attention,
As to who does what with another to do.
Than to deliver what the people expect.

"Even though it is believable to see it.
It is still unbelievable,
Where some folks place their priorities.
What can this be called.
I am lost for words to describe it."

-How about...
Missing dutiful eye contact? -

"Well...
Respectfully speaking.
I prefer,
Ignorant, stupid and dumb."

-Change your perception.
You see,
If people continually hear,
The same names to them called.
Eventually the doing,
For them becomes a compliment.
Let's try shouting:
'MISSING DUTIFUL EYE CONTACT'.
Over and over again.
To see what happens.
Perhaps,
That just may bring them back.
Believing they have been insulted.
Giving them incentive,
To actually produce results.-

"I doubt if they will know,
What missing dutiful eye contact means."

-Exactly.
They will immediately become offended.
To then feel,
They have to hit home runs.
Just to shut us up! -
