Missing Jake Poem by Kimberly Lindsey

Missing Jake

I was shopping the other day,
And heard a child cry.
It reached into my heart
And and dug in,
I had to see what was wrong.
And I searched until he was found,
A boy of three or four.
Sitting in the stroller,
Crying and looking at the floor.
His parents were there, he was okay,
But it hurt me just the same.
He reminded me of my grandson,
And ripped at my heart again.
He was such a sweet little boy,
Not throwing a fit or two.
Just simply crying,
but I did not know what to do.
I could not leave him there to cry,
But nothing could I do.
I went on my way, with a huge lump in my throat,
And immediately heard another child in distress,
Though not really, it was I that was really upset.
For some reason I started to panic,
My heart rate went through the roof.
My eyes were tearing, my hands started to shake
And I thought I was going to faint.
I finally got it together, I missed my boy, my Jake
I went shopping for my grandson,
promptly bought out the store.

this is really a nice piece...full of life, color, emotion, sensibility, touch, a shade grim, a shade happy, parental love, bonding, heart and everything you can think of...good that you bought the whole store...that's what we should do when we the currency on us...thanks for sharing the lovely piece
