Mission Implausible Poem by Ima Ryma

Mission Implausible

The U.S. used to go to war
With the prime goal of winning it
What was all of the fighting for? -
Hell - forcing the enemy to quit.
Leaders sold us that we should fight
Afghanistan - a war for good.
Taliban wrong and U.S. right.
Years later in all likelihood,
The U.S. will have spent good blood
And treasure, not for victory,
But for a mission made of mud,
A dirty mess of history.

We're losers in Afghanistan.
The winners are the Taliban.
