Modern Black Friday Poem by Hebert Logerie

Modern Black Friday

Rating: 5.0

Of course, Black Friday has a lot to do with money
Similarly, Black Friday has plenty to do with slavery
With the sale of strong black men and women at a discount
That's how it was done a few years ago that we can count.
Black Friday is about profits, about the less fortunate fighting
For a good deal in countless stores, after the day of Thanksgiving
Often, it's about making sacrifices to make unnecessary purchases
People go berserk and crazy, wishing they could be in many places
Or stores, ad hoc, in order to satisfy desires. I'm not saying to boycott
Or to stay at home pigging out or crying, however, please do your part
Be alert. Be conscious of the meaning and significance of Black Friday
Do a prayer for our ancestors and be aware of this very special day
Buy what you need, not what you want. Be careful with your money
Money is as precious as blood. And money can enslave wants and envy.
