Molly Pitcher Poem by Ima Ryma

Molly Pitcher

'Molly Pitcher, ' a nickname for
American women who fought
The Revolutionary War
For freedom the colonists sought.
A composite for women real
Who on the battlefield did go
With determination that she'll
Be part of history also.
Many were ammunition wives
Who did help their husbands until
Battles did take their husbands' lives.
Molly kept firing that gun still.

A grateful nation thanks them all -
Molly Pitchers heeding the call.
