Our most tender moments
are flash-frozen and
locked away by an
efficient mind to suspend,
waiting patiently,
like fruit in a gelatin salad.
I find it astonishing
how easily the senses
can pick that lock,
and once freed,
how quickly those same moments
are breathed back to life.
