More Heard To Hear But Few Do Listen Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

More Heard To Hear But Few Do Listen

If the more of it is heard enough,
The less interest to it is given.
With this done to do not to care,
Why or the where.
When or the how,
Who did what to do...
Over and over again.

Wanting this to wish,
Those with their noses up in the air...
To stop pretending their noses,
Are not stuck up behind times found.
And to find them,
Repetitive and limited to prove and show...
Only the ones getting older,
Seem to seek verification...
From others noticing,
The quickening of age.
With few chances left to be mistaken,
As someone young multi-tasking.
And using this as an excuse,
To forget what was minutes ago to have said.

Since 'kids' today,
Will text each other...
If they are sitting in the same place.
Face to face.
Done to talk about themselves and others.
With this done to do not to care,
Where they are.
When, where, how or what,
Was discussed just seconds ago.
As noses go up to pose for 'selfies'.
To send across a kitchen table.
