Soon the light will fold
as darkness slowly visits, cutting
the cord that terminates
another sun-blinding day.
Held upturned
by its vulnerable feet
and slapped on the floors of forests
the first screams of owls
herald this darkened shift.
As night has its day
and the earth rests
from radiated rays
it cools to chill
as waters break
and form into droplets
soon to be dried...
by a morning birth
