Mother (1) (Our Sweet Mummy) Poem by U Win Kyi

Mother (1) (Our Sweet Mummy)

Mum is now 70 years old,
She looks not very beautiful but just so-so.
Her stature is small but her heart is big,
Only S-sized clothes does she fit.
Her height is short but her morale is high,
She always forgives but never rile.
In property she is poor, in spirit she is rich,
In discipline she never gives up an inch.
She gave birth to 1 daughter and 7 sons,
Her responsibility is heavier than a thousand tons.
She doesn't teach us with a fist in iron glove,
But always deals with us like a peaceful dove,
She wins our hearts by giving tender love.
Not one of the 8 children goes astray,
To our parents we all obey.
Her friends marvel at her womb which is excellent,
Because it never produces a child who becomes a delinquent.
She herself is very humble, never to be arrogant.
Her friends want to borrow her uterus,
So that they can carry a very smart fetus.
She has a great maternal instinct,
Facing the life challange without any flinch.
Solving the problems her life brings,
Protecting her children under her wings.
Spending the money very thriftily and wisely,
But never let her children go to bed hungry,
For schooling she is never stingy,
She will use plenty.
Wearing us the clothes clean and shinny,
Keeping the home neat and tidy.
She never plays the blame game,
Or calls a person names,
Because it will cause her a big shame.
She says neither of sour grapes,
Nor of bitter hate.
She is so poor that the color of her clothes fade,
But her reputation always shines in great shape.
Wearing her face with an innocent smile,
Keeping her manner very mild,
Over trivial things she never goes wild.
Keeping her appearance very neat,
Talking us children very sweet,
Oh, Yeah! her mind is sweeter indeed,
All her sweetness flows in her veins,
To every corner of her brain,
Even to every cell of her body,
She is our dearest and sweet MUMMY.
