Mother Poem by Parimala Rao V

Mother

I was tossing and turning
and writhing in pain
screaming and shouting
though it was all in vain

you were born with a
sweet and gentle smile
weeping and wheezing
your nose running miles

i brought you up
as a prince of a kingdom
of peace and prosperity
of joy and freedom

but i knew not so
of what went wrong
why you have forgotten
to take your old mother along

i carried you on my shoulders
cared for you day and night
but couldn't recognize
that this wasn't alright

i sacrificed my whole life
have lost all its hue
waiting to have a last glimpse
of your wife and you.

Sad but sometimes children take their parents for granted little realising that their presence could mean so much.........Thanks for sharing
