Mother Nature played Monopoly,
Passed Go, Skipped Spring,
Landed on Summer -
Evidence existed, however,
that She paused on Spring
before moving on -
Blossoms opened for a day
or two
then faded with the onset
of heat -
Stifling, Suffocating,
Oppressive heat -
Thereby bringing the Game
to an end.
