Festering wounds, broken ribs
Raking coughs, oozing pus
She did see it all
She heard it all
And she did not walk by
(Like so many of us would)
She bent over the gutters
Immune to filth, immune to stench
And lifted those frail human beings
Caught between barbed wires of life and death
In pain, in desolation, in deprivation stifling
To her wide open home of motherly comfort spread
‘Cause She saw something that others didn't see
The soul of the divine that is in all including you and me…..

Superb poem, and I like also very much the story in the poet's notes. We can all learn so much from Mother Teresa. The saints of the past deserve our attention so much, especially in times like this
