Mother Teresa- Saint - Of The Poorest Of The Poor. Poem by Bernedita Rosinha Pinto

Mother Teresa- Saint - Of The Poorest Of The Poor.

She gave them just not alms and food
she gave them what was within her heart
a love that was so truthful in care
a comfort which any blind men, an orphan
a leper, a homeless could not hope for, yet feel;
many years not just many hours
she cared for them dedicating every ounce
of her love, her joy, her involvement
in comforting and providing for the destitute
while she in self-sacrifice and prayers lived.
No one ever looks at emptiness of hope
but in those hands was that hold
when into her abode of care and comfort
she would gather those on the streets
and take them home and nurse their wounds
feed them, clothe them, shelter them
all in the fervent and ardent love for humanity
all in the honour and respect for life and death
that those who had no one to hold and cry
when wounds, aches and perils of pain
made them give up hope:
not wanting to understand that
when God himself had struck such a fate
an angel like Mother Teresa would also walk by
and lift them by their hands and lead them on
to dwell in those sanctuaries of care she had created
everywhere, anywhere for the poorest of poor
to come and exist in the blessing of the heart
that belonged to Mother Teresa Saint of the poor
richest in kindness, happiest in serving the
blind, the homeless, the orphans, the lepers,
the beggars, the ailing, the diseased, the dying
would we ever choose to help any one of such
look up at Mother Teresa and your answer
in her little eyes and truthful smile you will find.
