Mr. Martin Poem by G. Akanji Olaniyi

Mr. Martin

A happy birthday to you Mr. Martin!
I pray this time next year you own and cruise an Aston Martin
I am surely not doing a theatrical castin’
Neither am I speaking Latin
Is what I wish and believe, even without fastin’
Dwell in God’s grace that is lastin’
Stay in His Glory, never partin’
Many happy returns, His mercies creatin’
Long life and prosperity, devoid of any smartin’
Raise your hands up to the heavens, handsome Mr. Martin
Tell Him up there, you are His special thin’
Even if you give a colouful satin
He will not take any earthly tin
Except His praise and appreciation, but no other thin’
He will surely look down with His glory on you, Mr. Martin
Bringing more blessings; remember the Aston Martin
And all else you ask for; not just one thin’
Happy Birthday, Mr. Martin! ! !

(Dedicated to a friend and colleague, Mr. Martin Akerele on his birthday,1st of June)
