Much, Much Longer Than Ten Feet Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Much, Much Longer Than Ten Feet

Where is your ten foot pole?
That had become a fixture of your personality,
For a number of years.

'Are you kidding?
There is nothing I wish to get that close enough,
To touch...
Even with 'that',
These days.'

What has happened to it?

'I had to get rid of it.
And I just could not justify,
Carrying a needed pole...
Much, much longer than ten feet.'
