Mumbai's Leopards

Mumbai's Leopards
- - - - - - - - - - - -
the salubrious Vihar Lake, around
jungles, flora and fauna, abound
and few leopards too reside
roam during nights besides
their diet - stray dogs, go underground

we keep taking our walks in the night
as leopards shun people, no need for fright
with man-animal conflict
animals we much.restrict
one dreams in vain - to shoot.leopard's flight

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
we are staying on NITIE Campus, adjacent to Vihar Lake. It is said that leopards are occasionally sighted and people are instructed not to panic as they keep away from people in their search for stray dogs.Man animal conflict is a serious issue and cannot be pushed under the carpet.
COMMENTS OF THE POEM

I could learn so much about the beauty of the place....! The placid lake with jungles abounding in flora and fauna and spotted leopards roaming occasionally but never giving a threat to the people....! A very desirable location!

Thanks Valsa George for your comments. I have been staying here for about a month, but have never seen a leopard moving about. A general warning is given for all residents not to walk around late in the night. Leopards generally look for smaller animals like dogs, rabbits, ..They keep away from people, unless provoked! This is part of the vast Sanjay Gandhi National Park, Mumbai.
