Mummy Aaj Chutti Hai - Poem by Seema Jayaraman

Mummy aaj chutti hai, bolo haan aaj chutti hai
Abhi tho Shanivaar aur Ravivaar, kewal do hi din

Beta, abhi tho do din ghar pe hi manayen hai

Pooja paat, katha aur lori, jabh tere sangh sikhoonga
School chodo, ghar pe sari padayai, phir kyon yeh atyachaar

Mummy chutti hai bhai Chutti hai, Bol Bol
Aap ke kanhon ko masali, Budhwaar adbudh bada
Hariyali aur Bhagiyani mein, bhaya sangh keloonga

Hote sookhen aur jukhein kandhe, phir wohi paat kyon baar baar
School mausi mera na sunthi, aur baakhi doston ke julum hazaar

Beta, Mummy teri aaj badi sochein hain

Aur jhi bhar mein gale laaga kar, mamta barsaaongi

Vaise bhi weekend ke
do din phir se hain aaye
Mein bus chahoon,
aankh micholi naani ke aanchal saar

Voh khil khilana,
aur besudh bateen keval bhayaa samajega

Bhaki ke pure chaar din ghar phar hi manaunga mein

Poet's Notes about The Poem

This is for and from my lil one, all of four, who sings this refrain without fail everyday not wanting to go to his nursery school. He says Mummy aaj chutti hai consistently, woefully, repeatitvely and in so many variant ways, I am amazed..we rake our brains to persuade him but he tries again without fail..God bless him always..

I am enchanted by the natural description in a typical Mumbai Bhsha. It's innocence, it's charms and it's effectiveness is amazing......................10 (Report) Reply

Thank you so much, mamta ka depth tho kabhi na dikha payenge, aur ek working mom ke ulzhan kabhi na samjha payenge..par mere nanhe ne mujhe etne naye rang en chaar saloon mein hain dikhaye.
