My Brother, Jimmy Poem by Linda Barnes

My Brother, Jimmy

Rating: 5.0

It's haunting at times
Leading all of us to split
Knowing child memories
Caused the heartache and mistrust

As I come to terms in my mind
You never had a chance
To turn around the past
For we left you in the dust

But I have fond memories
Of you and I, Jimmy
Dancing as partners
To strobe lights of boogie nights

We would practice and practice
Fancy footsteps and moves
To sounds of The Bee Gees
We danced around the room

We reminisced about it
And laughed at ourselves
Those are the memories
Of you my Brother, that I miss

God always had his plan
For all our lost souls
He brought us back together
To heal our hearts, forever
