My Christmas Story Poem by Ima Ryma

My story was first written by
Robert L. May who wrote it for
Child's coloring book to supply
Montgomery Ward Department Store.
May's office in Chicago's Loop
Looked out into dense fog one day.
May could not see through the gray goop.
Then inspiration came his way.
And that's when I first came to light,
In the year 1939,
To help Santa's trip through the night,
Through any and all fog to shine.

I'm now with Santa every year.
I'm Rudolph the red nosed reindeer.
