My Cowboy Poem by Grace Burke

My Cowboy

By day he rides his horse, in the saddle he sits tall
Regardless of the weather, spring, winter, summer, fall
He watches 'oer his cattle as they graze upon his land
This cowboy of the midstates, a quite amazing man.

He is a man of strength, he's not afraid to toil
His feet are firmly planted upon the virgin soil
He is a man of men, of that I am quite sure
No matter what confronts him, I know he will endure.

The heart of this great cowboy is as pure as gold can be
He is quite a romantic, that is plain to see
He spins a tale of love caressing as a breeze
As softly as a gentle rain that touches deep in me.

His words are like a sonnet, music to my ears
When he is close beside me, nothing do I fear
This man who is a cowboy, the toughest of the tough
Is truly a romantic, a diamond in the rough.
