My Editing Has Been Done - Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

To eliminate a sentence,
To make a paragraph more accepting...
Or censor a comment to make an issue less
May for some
Be what is needed to overcome
What is regarded as a topic
Not accepted or approved by those
Who review comments said by one!
But my editing has been done,
To accomplish what I have begun.
If what I say has been rejected...
I'll find my own exit when I've been shunned!
I'm here to enlighten not seek applause,
From everyone!
And if it has been decided
That my comments have divided,
I'm sure that something said...
Will enter the ears to stay in one's head!

Thanks Ruby. I appreciate your comments sincerely! I suppose if i was a politician OR delivering a sermon from a pulpit, my outlook would be quite different. However, neither of those I am not. As a writer/poet, my obligation is to be honest within myself I make attempts to express without offending, however, I don't base my deliver on whether someone is going to object to my feelings. That kind of political correctness I leave to the critics. I'm on an expedition that has more to do with the discovery of truth. A truth that frees...not inhibits! (Report)Reply

Hi Lawrence, I believe everyone should get a 10 just by being creative and brave enough to write. I myself don't like it when people put me down. Because I think we try our best with our poetry. We have good and bad days. So we may not always write the best. Excellent poem, take care. (Report)Reply
