My Eyes Poem by Lizzy Henry

My Eyes

Hold so much sadness
So much pain
So much death and sorrow
Its hard to see my eyes,
The way they are now
Sometimes I think
There is no hope for my life
I can see the light
Yet it is so small
There it is again
But I can see it now
But when the memory comes back
It takes it all away
I can cry all I want
But the light wont shine the way it did
My eyes
There is a lot
Of pain, sorrow, and sadness
There can be no light
No beacon of hope
Left for me now
I cant see it
The brighter side of things
Its to hard with out the light
Ive gotten pretty good at making a fake light
But when I'm alone
There is no hope
Some can tell that i hurt
Some cant
I'm the one who can change that
But id rather have no hope
Then too much
My eyes hold everything
My eyes are my destruction
My eyes can be the death of hope
And they are...

The eyes are the window to your soul. Sometimes they are clouded with pain and sorrow. This to me seems like a very personal poem emulating from a very personal tragedy. I hope the light shines again for you soon.
