My Fallen Angel Poem by Roisin McNally

My Fallen Angel

I stand before you now, my love
Fallen from the skies above
As the moonlight pours upon your skin
Lighting up your darkest sin
Your eyes are as silver as the ocean dawn
Strong as an ox, as swift as a fawn
Your heart hath not beat in a thousand years
But your heart still produces broken tears

“I’m evil, ” you say, “I’m not good for you
Leave, my sweet, find a heart that’s true
True enough to go through the gates of gold
And not be banished to the world so cold
I have no soul, I have no life
I have no way to make you my wife
But, my sweet, I love you so much that I cry
Because of the fear I will watch you die
I’ve fallen from heaven back to the earth
To stay frozen forever with no rebirth
So leave, my sweet, leave me I plea
Live your life as planned, forget about me.”

His words are pain filled, so tearful and sad
Because he is different it does not make him bad
My love is cursed till the end of time
He loves me but whispers he'll never be mine
A prince of darkness, his curse on his back
Huge angel wings, the colour of black
Spread out from his back like that of a crow
His curse is a secret that I only know
Is that a difference to me that he is not like I?
He is my moon that lights up the sky

“My love, ” I say, “Wipe those tears off your face
I ask of you now, take me in you embrace
I don’t care that your different, like a crow and a dove
Forever and always, it will be you that I love.”
In his arms I run where I feel so secure
He may have fallen but he is still pure
He takes me in his arms on this cold winters night
In the once dark but now in the snowy moonlight
My love and I stand together, never to be apart
My Fallen Angel now, I forever give you my heart.
