My feminine instinct did not lead me astray
-Gayathri B. Seetharam
I have it on the best of authority, my feminine instinct,
That along with avowed fidelity with its minor indiscretions
A woman's dream to love and be cherished
Is the treasure trove of life
But I was a feminist young lady
Who was wont to stun the visionary young men and the sentimentalist older male relatives
With my high spiritedness
Which was, if I may say so myself, not without fineness
I have it on the best of authority, my feminist aspirations,
That I became a chemical engineer
Who also had the good fortune to become lyrical about love and marriage and graduate studies
For a couple of years, I did achieve my career goals
That is have a young child and work and did not veer off course
I have it on the best of authority, my feminine instinct and my feminist aspirations
That if I were to trust in God and society, man and machine, woman and family, I would also do well in the financial sense of the word.
