My Heart Poem by Linda Barnes

My Heart

Rating: 5.0

Don't take away my heart
My soul has been damaged
My spirit broken
My laughter silenced

Don't damage my heart
It's what keeps me strong
My tears flow inside
Where I can show no weakness

Don't close my heart
I only have it left
To protect me from harm
To be open for what comes

Don't break my heart
Doing so will leave me vulnerable
Not able to protect myself
For what is yet to happen

Don't control my heart
It's what is left of freedom
To love and live
And only then can I survive

You do need your heart to go out and live life. A very well written poem, and a 10
