My Heart Bleeds For You, o Little Baby Poem by Mohammad Younus

My Heart Bleeds For You, o Little Baby

'My heart bleeds for you, O little baby',
Your brothers say in their cozy rooms;
Your cries though echo in the atmosphere,
But the Warlords of the world turn,
A deaf ear to your shrieks;
Prayers of the dead ummah won't help you;
What use it is to pray without standing up,
Openly for the defence of powerless?
And asking God to send angels to fight,
By people who live in ivory towers,
Is a great tragic irony of Palestine.
