My Horrible Cheetah! Poem by Rajendran Muthiah

My Horrible Cheetah!

The breeze blew sometimes over me
and made me hum heart-moving rhymes.
It breathed life into my tired limbs
and woke my muse up to take to wings.
But woe to me! The gentle wind
has its direction changed in stealth,
with unceasing melancholy
and burdens of gloom to fill up
my heart, with sad sighs to weigh down.

O my cheetah! You change places
often to make me sullen and moan
and evade my despairing looks
from taking a slide over you.
The planets too shift their positions
but don't pull off from the centre.
But you dared to hit at my heart
and crack and break it into pieces
without a tinge of remorseful feel.

Even the birds return to their trees
when the sun sets and darkness shrouds.
But you hop from one tree to the next
building temporal huts to stay,
demolish and leave without a tear

to shed and pensive face to hide.
Horrible dear, horrible to break
the nice heart which has no vice
to hurt anyone in this world!
