My Kind Of Soldiers Poem by Kenneth Maswabi

My Kind Of Soldiers

It's not usual for me to address these soldiers
Or undress their work
There are always at the frontlines
Ever engaged in chemical and biological warfare
They have taken an oath to "do no harm"
To fight diseases and all other kinds of human ailments
Commitment is their shield
And passion is their spear
They have fought so many invincible enemies
And have conquered many battles
As they face their latest challenge (COVID-19)
I pray that they find strength and courage
I pray for their friends and families
And everyone else
To bless them
To give them support and hope
And adhere to the rules of engagement
To practice social distancing
I know they will be victorious
But it will take a lot of effort and perseverance
Some will succumb to the deadly pathogen
And their death will be a bitter lesson
It will fill us with tears and sorrow
Their death will show us the spirit of humanity
And it will teach us the ethos of selflessness
It takes more than courage to be a healthcare worker
I salute you all

Their death will show us the spirit of humanity. Doctors should be saved to save the lives of patients. This poem is very brilliantly penned.
