My Last Name Poem by Dorsey Baker

My Last Name

Baby you say you are tired
of wearing my last name
you are ready to be
somebody new
Baby you say you are tired!
of wearing my last name
you are ready
to become a new you
its been a long time
coming
but now baby
the time has come
you want to wear
somebody else's
last name
or you want to wear
your own
you are a lady!
and I understand
you just might
have your eyes set
on another man
you are tired
of being with
a fool like me
you are tired of
wearing my last name
you are ready
to be free!
