My Old Friend Poem by G J Salgado

My Old Friend

There you are my old friend
It's nice to see you again
I waited for you all these years
As we grew apart I shed a few tears
So many things are not the same
I remember your face but not your name
The one in the mirror who is looking back at me
She reminds me a lot of you because she has the same beauty
When I think of her I think of you
She's been around awhile and she's my friend too
She's there when I wake during the night
And she's there when we're lost in the light
She was there in the mirror again just as soon as I woke up today
I see her as I fade when she wants me to stay
I will stay my dearest oldest friend
As long as you stay too and hold my hand
I will stay a little while longer just to see you smile
I will stay longer my oldest dearest friend just for a little while...
