My Old Life - Poem by Annmarie Fox

My Old Life.
By Annmarie Fox©

My old life is now over
And a new one has begun
I fought a battle, I waged a war
And I know that I have won.

As I sit her with my battle scars
My life is all in tatters
I’ve gained my freedom I haven’t failed
It’s all that really matters.

He says that he still loves me
He should have thought about that first
Before he chose to hit me
I think he’s come of worst.

My old life is now over
And a new one has begun
I fought a battle, I waged a war
And I know that I have won.
