.....My Pride...In Short - Temperament... Poem by James B. Earley

.....My Pride...In Short - Temperament...

Well over thirty years.....as a chauffeur
....Just shy of four decades I've spent
Respect of my person...the public at large
.......In short....it 'twas my temperament

Courtesy....in the face of hostility...
Complements never once going to my head
.....Well over thirty years as a chauffeur
Just shy of four decades...I've said...

Being firm whenever confronting adversity
Acquiescing should the occasion require
...Well over thirty years...as a chauffeur...
'Twas my temperament I soulfully admired

....Whatsoever.....one's chosen profession
Whatever trails life's pathway we trudge...
Temperament remains the qualifying equation
...Be it garbageman...dog catcher...or judge
*
*
Well over thirty years as a chauffeur...simply driving
.....Just shy of four decades......I've spent...
Respect of my personage...the public at large
....Thus....my pride...in short - temperament...

Author's note:
A word of consideration to aspiring Supreme Court Justice, Brett Kavanaugh; humility is required, even of a Judge, on occasion.
