My Savior Poem by Kerri Foxx

My Savior

My hero, my prince has come to rescue me
The problem is I know not his identity
I imagine him to be tall, courageous, and strong
And my heart will be joyous and singing in song

Everyday I'm waiting, waiting for him to come on
Waiting for that knock on the door
For him to call out 'Honey, I'm home! '
I gaze out the window; I wonder who he is
Wishing I were a mind-reader and his only thought, 'Liz'

He's all I think about
He's all I dream of
And I wonder if he has wings
If he were sent from up above

One day become a month
A year, two more
And eventually I ask myself 'Who am I waiting for? '

One day my neighbor's house caught on fire
The blew and the flames licked at my house in desire
My room was first, then my bed
The very one I slept in and still did

I wasn't conscious of being held
Only waking to a sweet kiss to my forehead
And when I heard those precious five words
Down trickled the first tear
For he said 'Love, awaken, for your savior is here.'
