My Seven Years Old Son Poem by Anshul Gupta

My Seven Years Old Son

When you were born my son
it felt as if I was reborn.

Your tiny fingers touching my cheeks
were the softest thing my skin had ever felt
Kissing you for the first time, my heart got melt.

Shopping for your first toy
was my favorite experience
You peeing on me, was not a nuisance!

You reduced my sleeping hours
from nine to six
To make you sleep at night
I used in vain all my tricks.

Your first vaccination was the most painful experience I had
Never in life more helpless had I felt.

The first time I saw you walking
it looked as if the nature was dancing
The first time you said papa
My heart went gaga!

Your first day in school reminded me of my own
It was difficult leaving you alone.

It was a pleasure to see you climbing onto the school stage
Something I fear even at this age.

As you grew older
You became more of a company than a dependent
Whenever I scold you my son, later I repent.

Going to the park for a walk with you in the morning
is the best time of my day
My laughter on your jokes is sincere
I swear!

I love admiring you when you are asleep
When I sleep with you I feel your breath within me.

I love to hug you tight and feel your heart beat
Warmth of your body makes me feel complete.

Smell of your skin tastes so sweet
Purity of you reminds me of an ocean's deep.

I admit I fear losing you
Sometimes in my dreams I do lose you.

I thank your soul to choose me as your guardian
I promise I will help you reach your destination.

You are God's best gift to me
God, take care of my son
I am grateful to thee.
