My Shadow Poem by Somanathan Iyer

Shadow is inseparable companion
It is said to give it some credibility!
Uninvited it follows me wherever I go
Depending on the power of lights
It projects my image in funny shapes
With long nose and bulged tummy
A true caricature drawn by nature!
Falling in front or back or sideways
It follows me only to be stamped
Upon by fellow walkers or speeding vehicles
Embarrassing me much more
It falls on all unwanted and disgusting things
When I have to walk through slums and slush
Shadow is inseparable companion
It is said only to add it some credibility!
