I want my son to surpass me
In kindness, and love for others, and generosity,
I want him not to hate, or to judge others fate
And unto the poor and needy I hope him to give pity.
I hope no one will he ever mock or will ridicule
Which would make him look sinful and like a fool,
I hope he sees all his brothers and sisters, when he sees Ms's and Misters
In his life I hope racism and bigotry never does rule.
I hope that my son never cheats or lies
And I hope he is caring and helping when other's cries,
I hope for him to stay honest and true, like God wants him too
That would make him a great prize.
I want my son to be like a helping grocery store
Where he carries love, kindness and support when you enter the door,
I don't want my essential, to be my son's potential
I don't want to be his ceiling I want to be my son's floor.
